Students for the Promotion of International Law (SPIL), Mumbai, a distinguished student-led organization at Government Law College (GLC), is proud to announce the Call for Papers for Volume V of the GLC–SPIL International Law Journal (ILJ). This prestigious journal, known for its commitment to academic excellence and rigorous peer review, invites submissions that contribute to the ongoing dialogue in the field of international law.

Established in 1855, Government Law College, Mumbai, holds the distinction of being the oldest law school in Asia. Founded in 2009, Students for the Promotion of International Law (SPIL), Mumbai, was created to bridge the gap between theoretical legal education and empirical legal practice. SPIL fosters a deeper understanding of international law through its initiatives, which include workshops, debates, paper presentations, and the highly regarded International Law Summit. The organization has also collaborated with prominent international and national bodies like the International Law Student Association and the Indian Society of International Law.

Theme for Submissions

Submissions for Volume V should be on any contemporary issue in International Environmental Law. This theme encourages exploration of diverse perspectives and addresses emerging challenges in global environmental governance.

Categories and Guidelines for Submission

Submissions may fall under the following categories:

  • Articles: Comprehensive analyses (6,000–10,000 words)
  • Essays: Focused discussions (4,000–6,000 words)
  • Case Notes/Legislative Commentaries: Critical insights on recent judgments or legislative developments (1,500–3,000 words)

Additional Submission Guidelines:

  • Abstract: Maximum of 300 words
  • Co-Authorship: Allowed up to 2 authors
  • Citation: Harvard Bluebook 20th Edition
  • Font: Times New Roman, Size 12 (Body), 10 (Footnotes)
  • Plagiarism: Must be under 10%

Eligibility: Open to undergraduate and postgraduate law students, academicians, industry practitioners, and research scholars.

Manuscripts should be sent to ilj.spilmumbai@gmail.com with the subject line: “ILJ Vol. V Submission”. Include a separate document containing the author(s)’ full name, chosen topic, title of the manuscript, academic affiliation, contact details, and a brief bio.

Deadline: The last date for submissions is 15th December 2024. Late entries will not be considered.
