About the Event:

Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur, proudly presents the 4th Edition of the Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial Parliamentary Debate. Following the success of three captivating editions, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better, offering a unique opportunity for students from across the country to engage in intellectual discourse and showcase their debating skills.

The debate will be held from 09 November to 10 November 2024, on the picturesque campus of DNLU, Jabalpur, nestled along the sacred banks of the Narmada River. The event will be conducted in the British Parliamentary Format (2V2) and will bring together some of the brightest minds from different universities, who will battle it out for a share of the massive ₹3,20,000 cash prize pool.

The Debating Society, Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU)

DNLU, Jabalpur, established in 2018, has quickly grown into a hub for legal education and intellectual development. The Debating Society of DNLU, through its annual flagship event – the Justice R.K. Tankha Parliamentary Debate – has fostered a community of students passionate about debating. The society offers a platform where students can hone their rhetorical skills and engage in meaningful dialogues on critical legal and societal issues.

  • Format: British Parliamentary Debate (2V2)

  • Registration Fee:
    • ₹2500 (with accommodation)
    • ₹1800 (without accommodation)

Prize Pool:

The Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial Parliamentary Debate 2024 boasts the largest cash prize pool in the country, totaling an impressive ₹3,20,000. The competition offers participants the chance to not only showcase their debating prowess but also to compete for significant rewards that recognize their efforts and talents.

Team Composition:

  • 2 Speakers per team
  • Optional: 1 Adjudicator per team
  • Adjudicator Policy: N=N (Number of teams = Number of adjudicators)

Eligibility:

  • Open to individuals pursuing or having completed undergraduate or postgraduate courses from any UGC-recognized university.
  • School students are also welcome to participate.
  • Cross-university teams are allowed.

Rounds:

  • Preliminary Rounds: 16 teams will progress to the Quarterfinals.
  • From there, the top 8 teams will proceed to the Semifinals, with the Grand Finale determining the champions.

Social Night:

In addition to intense debates, participants are invited to unwind and socialize at the Social Night, a vibrant gathering to celebrate the camaraderie of fellow debaters. It’s a perfect opportunity to relax, enjoy, and connect with competitors from various universities in a fun and laid-back environment.
