APPLICATION PROCEDURE

The internship is known as Summer placement. Forms are out in the month of October. After submission of application form, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their marks of graduation. After getting shortlisted, one has to go through the interview process and then the final results will be disclosed.

ACCOMMODATION

The institution does not provide any accommodation. However, one can find hostel, PG, guest houses in the nearby areas at affordable prices.

FIRST IMPRESSION

The day I joined, there were two more interns who joined with me but they were from different departments. I was the only one from the legal cell. The first day was very good. Since it is a government organization, the Employees treated us like guests and welcomed us. We were asked to select our project on which we will suppose to work for next two months. Then the HR introduced me to the head of my Legal Cell and to my mentor (Project Supervisor) as well.

MAIN TASK

I was working on a project titled “Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016”. I did a thorough research on the topic like how did this code evolve. The questions like what led to the enactment of this Code, 2016, What are the loopholes of earlier existing insolvency and bankruptcy laws, what are the benefits of having this consolidated code, 2016 etc have been discussed in detail in my project report.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

VERY COMFORTABLE, as my Mentor was very supportive and other staff members were also very cooperative, help us a lot. The Office timings were 10 am to 5:15 pm from Monday to Friday. I was supposed to work on my project but some days in the meantime I was also given some work to learn about the actual working of the legal cell, for example, giving legal opinions and replies.

BEST THINGS

Healthy atmosphere. There was no pressure at all. Also, they provided us free of cost lunch for every day. The lunch used to be very yummy and it was a buffet system.

BAD THINGS

Nothing.

STIPEND

Rs 15000/- for one month.

BIGGEST LESSONS

I gained real-life experience of tackling issues of government employees who get involved in some legal matters. Apart from that, I gained thorough knowledge about my project.
