Chanakya National Law University Inaugurates SC/ST Cell to Promote Inclusivity and Diversity
CNLU inaugurates SC/ST Cell to foster inclusivity, equality, and support for underprivileged students in law education.
Patna, January 22, 2025 – Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) marked a significant milestone in fostering inclusivity and diversity with the inauguration of its SC/ST Cell. The initiative, spearheaded by Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Faizan Mustafa, reflects the university’s commitment to promoting equality and addressing socio-economic challenges faced by SC/ST communities.
The inauguration ceremony featured Chief Guest Dr. Guru Prakash Paswan alongside Faculty Convenors Ms. Nidhi Kumari and Mr. Abhishek Kumar, with the participation of faculty members, staff, and students.
The SC/ST Cell is a step towards empowering students from underprivileged communities. By adhering to UGC guidelines, the Cell aims to raise awareness about scholarships, provide counselling, and implement policies that promote inclusivity. The initiative underlines CNLU’s resolve to create an environment where all students are respected and provided equal opportunities.

Vice-Chancellor’s Address: Prof. (Dr.) Faizan Mustafa emphasized the importance of affirmative action and the need to address the cultural shock experienced by students from diverse backgrounds. Drawing attention to the alarming rise in student suicides due to academic stress, he advocated for educational reforms that allow students to progress at their own pace. He also highlighted the pressing need to empower laws to bridge socio-economic disparities effectively.
Dr. Guru Prakash Paswan shared insights from his personal journey in law school, stressing the importance of responsibility over consistency. He emphasized that true socio-economic equality remains a work in progress, citing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s vision of a just and equitable society. Dr. Paswan’s reflections on social sensitivity and diversity added depth to the discourse.
