INAUGURAL CEREMONY
Amity Law School Noida organized 2nd Amity National Hindi Moot Court Competition from 14th-16th March 2018. The programme commenced with an Inaugural Ceremony beginning with the lightening of the lamp. The Guests of Honour were Shri Ram Bahadur Rai, President, Indira Gandhi National Institute of Art and Shri R.N. Singh, Special Advisor, Ganga Action Plan and Former IPS Officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre.
THEME – THE MOOT PROBLEM
The moot problem relates to criminal law where the victim Rohini, dies under mysterious circumstances. The prospective culprits are identified as Rohini’s father Shyam Lal, employer Ajay Ranawat, and her good friend (colleague) Ahmad Khan. The proposition is required to be argued by both the sides i.e. Appellant and Respondent. The moot court session revolves around the contentions argued by the teams of Appellants and Respondents. The case comes under the purview of Indian Penal Code, 1860; Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973; and Indian Evidence Act, 1872.
Competition
This Moot court competition is a unique initiative by Amity Law School, Amity University, Noida, and is conducted in Hindi which is a rarity. The courtroom sessions were a great learning experience. The judges and all the participants were well versed with the moot court problem. The courtroom setting and the ambiance was in accordance with the requirements of the problem which was the theme of the moot court competition.
Valedictory Function
The guests for the occasion were Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Tondon, Chairman, Uttarakhand State Law Commission and former judge, Uttrakhand High Court; Hon’ble Mr. Justice S.N Dhingra, Former judge, High court of Delhi; Ms. Monika Arora, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India ; Mr. Pallav Shishodia , Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India.
