The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has released a notification for the recruitment of 17 Civil Judge posts. Candidates who are interested and eligible for the posts can apply online through the official website of HPPSC (www.hppsc.hp.gov.in) on or before 12 May 2023.
The selection process for the Civil Judge posts will consist of a preliminary examination, a main examination and a viva-voce (interview). The preliminary examination will be an objective type test with three papers of 100 marks each. The papers will cover Civil Law-I, Civil Law-II and Criminal Law. The duration of each paper will be one hour. The preliminary examination will be held at Shimla, Mandi and Kangra at Dharamshala.

The candidates who qualify for the preliminary examination will be eligible to appear for the main examination, which will be a narrative-type test with five papers of 200 marks each. The papers will cover Civil Law-I, Civil Law-II, Criminal Law, English Composition and Hindi Language. The duration of each paper will be three hours. The main examination will be held at Shimla.
The candidates who qualify for the main examination will be called for the viva-voce (interview), which will carry 100 marks. The viva-voce will test the candidates' general knowledge, personality, intelligence and suitability for appointment as Civil Judge.

- Closing date for fee payment: May 12, 2023

- Date of Preliminary Examination: July 09, 2023

- Date of Main Examination: August 19, 2023 onwards

Eligibility Criteria:

- The candidate must be a citizen of India.

- The candidate must have attained the age of 22 years but must not be more than 35 years of age as of the last date prescribed for submission of online applications. The upper age limit is relaxable by three years for SC/ST and other reserved categories of Himachal Pradesh.

- The candidate must hold a degree in law as recognized by the Bar Council of India.

- The candidate must have knowledge of the customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in the state.

Application and Fee:

Candidates who are interested in applying for the Civil Judge posts can visit the official website of HPPSC (www.hppsc.hp.gov.in
) and follow the instructions given there. The candidates have to register and create their profile on "One Time Registration" and then fill up the online application form. The candidates have to pay an application fee of Rs. 400 for the general category and Rs. 100 for SC/ST/OBC/BPL/EWS categories through online mode.
