About NLIU Bhopal

The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU) is a law school and centre for research located in Bhopal, India. Established in 1997 by the state of Madhya Pradesh, it is one of the first three law schools to have been established under the National Law School System.

About the Cell

Gender Justice Cell, NLIU was established in 2004 with an aim to promote gender equality and to sensitise and create awareness on gender related issues. It promotes research based on the theme Gender and Law through its Events & Blog.

Objective

The Gender Justice Cell, NLIU seeks to conduct the NLIU-GJC Essay Writing Competition, 2024. This competition aims to advance the cause of gender justice by facilitating thoughtful academic discussions on pressing topics across the country. The competition will have 5 themes and their respective sub-themes to delve into the arena of Gender and Law.

Timeline

  • Call for Submissions: 31st August, 2024.
  • Last date of Registration: 05th October, 2024.
  • Last Date for Submission: 20th October, 2024
  • Declaration of Results: 15th November, 2024.
  • Publication of Manuscripts in Book format: November, 2024.

Mode

The competition shall be conducted in Online mode

Eligibility

Students from undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral qualification, academicians and scholars, practitioners, consultants, researchers, and policy makers from different backgrounds across the world are eligible to participate in the competition.

Themes

We welcome original and unpublished contributions from students, academicians, and practitioners for the conference. The suggested themes under the topic of the essay are:

  • New Criminal Laws and Gender Justice
  • Labour, Corporate Law and Gender
  • Gender Equality, Media & Artificial Intelligence
  • Judiciary, Litigation, Political Institutions and Gender Justice
  • Society, Finance and Gender Equality

Registration and Payment

To ensure successful registration for the NLIU-GJC Essay Writing Competition, 2024, participants are required to adhere to the following procedure before the deadline:

Registration Fee Payment: Participants must pay the non-refundable registration fee, which is:

  • Single Authorship: ₹400
  • Co-Authorship: ₹600

Submission of Essay: Following the payment, participants are required to submit their essay.

Submission Process

  • Submissions must be made in .doc or .docx format only with the file name as the title of the essay. No retractions shall be permitted in any case.
  • No identifying information about the author(s) should be included in the manuscripts. Failure to comply with this rule will result in immediate disqualification.
  • All submissions must be completed via Google form before 11:59 PM, 20th October 2024.

Manuscript Guidelines

  • Manuscript should be typewritten in British English on A4 sized paper in MS Word and should range between 3,000 to 6,500 words in length, excluding the footnotes and abstract.
  • An abstract of 200-250 words is required and should be placed at the top of the manuscript, providing a clear summary of its structure and essence.
  • The manuscripts must strictly adhere to the provided formatting guidelines.

Awards

  • Winner: A Cash Prize of INR 10,000 + Publication of the Manuscript in our Book on 4th NLIU National Conference on Gender and Law, 2024 + Certificate of Merit.
  • 1st Runners Up: A Cash Prize of INR 5,000 + Publication of the Manuscript in our Book on 4th NLIU National Conference on Gender and Law, 2024 + Certificate of Merit.
  • 2nd Runners Up: Publication of the Manuscript in our Book on 4th NLIU National Conference on Gender and Law, 2024 + Certificate of Merit.
  • Next Top 10 Essays: A Certificate of Merit.
  • All Participants: A Certificate of Participation will be given to all Participants.
