Centre for Business Laws & Taxation ("CBLT"), RGNUL Punjab is organizing a Two Credit Certificate course on Business Laws and Practice 3.0, after the immense success of its first and second editions of the Two Credit Certificate Courses on Corporate Laws and Practice.
About the Centre
The Centre for Business Laws & Taxation ("CBLT") is a research centre under the aegis of the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab (“RGNUL”) that aims to promote and conduct interdisciplinary research and undertake numerous activities and projects in the realm of Business Laws and Taxation. This centre is headed by our esteemed faculty coordinator, Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma.
About RGNUL
Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, was established by the State Legislature of Punjab by passing the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab Act, (Punjab Act No. 12 of 2006). The Act incorporated a University of Law of national stature in Punjab, thereby fulfilling the need for a Centre of Excellence in legal education in the modern era of globalization and liberalization.
About the Course
The landscape of corporate law has been changing and has even undergone a sea change during the last few decades. Varied issues in the corporate law domain including insolvency resolution of companies, mergers and amalgamation deals etc have sprung up and the corporate lawyers had to confront with ever-changing corporate world regulations. To cope with such issues, the legal framework has also undergone amendments and enactment of new laws, rules and regulations. Further, there is a wide gulf between law in theory and law in practice. Keeping this in mind, the certificate course on corporate laws and practice is structured with the objective of analyzing the current legal issues in the field of corporate litigation by identifying the lacunas existing in corporate law so as to benefit law students and young professionals who understand the nuances of corporate litigation. It will cover various topics of contemporary importance such as structuring a merger deal, preparing a resolution plan, regulation of cryptocurrency, data privacy and competition law amongst others.
Eligibility
The course would be open for law students pursuing a UG/PG course and other UG/PG courses, faculty and practitioners.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the practical nuances of various business laws;
- Understand the recent developments and amendments in various business laws;
- Develop real-life problem-solving aptitude and enhance negotiation skills;
- Draft key legal documents and arguments on corporate law matter; and, Develop critical and analytical thinking.
Mode
The course will be taught through online and offline lectures by experts in the area of corporate law. Together with the lecture method & case study method, the collaborative method may also be adopted to analyze the issues surrounding the various aspects of the legal and regulatory framework of companies. End of session assignment to be discussed in the next session like a dummy case study.
Duration
August to October 2023.

- The Course fee is Rs. 1500/- excluding GST for RGNUL Students and Rs. 2500/- excluding GST for others. No registrations beyond the deadline will be entertained.
- Please note that this is the preliminary registration, the final registration link for payment of registration fees will be circulated after 5 days of the deadline for preliminary registration.
