About the Foundation

Social Development for Communities (SDC) Foundation is an environmental action and advocacy group based in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The Foundation is registered as a not-for-profit organization under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

SDC Foundation was created with the objective of conducting research on the cutting edge issues of environmental governance and social development. Along with conducting extensive research programs, SDC has been deeply engaged in conceptualising and implementing sustainable solutions at the grassroots level and mobilising the communities.

SDC has three main focus areas: environmental conservation, urban governance, and citizen engagement.

About the Internship Programme

The internship program aims at making students learn about the on-ground application of policies by developing pilot programmes, campaigns and research projects. During the internship, students will be expected to assist the foundation in managing on-going projects and campaigns.

The internship will also focus on carrying in-depth research on the given topics. The students will be expected to prepare newsletters, blogs, policy briefs, and campaign notes.

Eligibility

1. Students pursuing various social science courses like development studies, public policy, mass communication, journalism, law, economics, political science, etc.
2. The applicant must have a strong command over his/her writing and research skills. He/she should be willing to go on the ground and work with local communities. Applicants having prior experience in research and writing work will be given preference.
