National Testing Agency on Wednesday announced the cancellation of the UGC-NET examination following prima facie indications that the integrity of the exam was compromised.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the UGC NET June 2024 Examination in OMR (pen and paper) mode on 18th June 2024, across various cities in two shifts. However, on 19th June 2024, the University Grants Commission (UGC) received indications from cybersecurity authorities that the integrity of the examination might have been compromised.

To maintain transparency and uphold the sanctity of the examination process, the Ministry of Education, Government of India has taken the decision to cancel the UGC NET June 2024 Examination. A fresh examination will be organized, and details regarding the new schedule will be communicated separately. Simultaneously, the matter has been referred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (C.B.I.) for a thorough investigation.

In a related issue concerning the NEET (UG) 2024 Examination, the government has already addressed the problem of grace marks. Additionally, allegations of irregularities in the conduct of the examination in Patna prompted a request for a detailed report from the Economic Offences Unit of the Bihar Police. The government will take further action based on this report.

The government remains committed to ensuring the sanctity of examinations and protecting the interests of students. It is emphasized that any individual or organization found to be involved in compromising the examination’s integrity will face strict consequences.
