DNLU Jabalpur collaborates with NLU Delhi to enhance legal education through joint research, training, and academic activities.

Delhi | June 18, 2024: Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur, continues to strive for academic excellence and holistic development. In its commitment to enhancing academic standards, DNLU has actively pursued collaborations with various institutions. As part of this effort, DNLU recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Law University Delhi on June 18, 2024.

Established in 2018 under the Madhya Pradesh Dharmashastra National Law University Act, 2018, DNLU Jabalpur aims to advance legal education and promote the rule of law as enshrined in the Indian Constitution. The university offers B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), a one-year LL.M. program, and a Ph.D. program.

Leadership at DNLU

DNLU is guided by Hon’ble Judge of Supreme Court of India Shri Justice J.K. Maheshwari, as its Visitor, Hon’ble Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh Shri Justice Sheel Nagu as its Chancellor, and Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Sinha as its Vice-Chancellor.

Overview of National Law University Delhi

The National Law University Delhi (NLUD), was established in 2007 under the National Law University Delhi Act, 2007, aims to provide interdisciplinary legal education that is socially relevant and promotes ethical values and the rule of law.

The university is led by Hon’ble Acting Chief Justice of High Court of Delhi Shri. Justice Manmohan as Chancellor and Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai as Vice Chancellor. Prof. Bajpai is equipped with more than thirty years of professional experience as an academician and administrator. He is Chair Professor at K.L Arora Chair in Criminal Law, and Chairperson of the Centre for Criminology & Victimology at National Law University Delhi. Prof. Bajpai has been designated a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata. He has formerly served as Vice Chancellor at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab and Registrar at NLUD.

Objectives of the MoU

Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU) Jabalpur collaborates with NLUD to enhance legal education through joint research, training, and academic activities. They also aim to facilitate joint research on matters of national importance in the field of law. Prof. Bajpai, during the signing ceremony, emphasized upon the institutions' shared commitment and promised to exchange faculty members to enhance teaching practices and elevate both Universities. The MoU was signed in the presence of the Registrar, NLUD Prof. (Dr.) Ruhi Paul at NLUD Campus.
