Jabalpur, August 01, 2024 – Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur hosted an Orientation-cum-Induction Session for freshers and signed an MoU with National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal to enhance academic collaboration.
Introduction and Inauguration
Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur organized an Orientation-cum-Induction Session for the freshers' batch of 2024, which includes students pursuing B.A.LL.B (Hons.) and LL.M. Programmes. The event took place on August 1, 2024, graced by Chief Guests Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon, Vice Chancellor of Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University Prayagraj, and Prof. (Dr.) S. Surya Prakash, Vice Chancellor of National Law Institute University, Bhopal. The ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.
Inspiring Addresses by Chief Guests
During her address, Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon shared her experiences as a student and academician, providing valuable insights to the new students. She congratulated them on starting their journey in the unique and powerful profession of law, which equips individuals with the skills to argue effectively. Prof. Tandon encouraged students to pursue their interests in sports and music alongside their academics and emphasized the importance of studying law from primary sources. She commended DNLU for organizing the session and highlighted the university's distinction of having the largest geographical campus.
Prof. (Dr.) S. Surya Prakash emphasized the importance of quality of life over the next five years and urged students to fulfill their obligations to parents, siblings, and society. He wished them success and recommended reading "Wings of Fire" by APJ Abdul Kalam and Steve Jobs' Stanford Commencement Address for inspiration.
Welcome Address by Vice Chancellor
Earlier in the day, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha congratulated the students on securing admission to the university. He welcomed them to DNLU and discussed the university's vision and philosophy, which offers an excellent ecosystem for holistic student development. He advised students to make the most of the university's resources for their personal and professional growth.
Memorandum of Understanding with National Law Institute University, Bhopal
During the Orientation Session, DNLU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Law Institute University, Bhopal. This MoU aims to synergize the professional capabilities of both institutions in capacity building, education, research, and publications in the legal field. It will facilitate exchange programs for students and faculty, collaborative research initiatives, and joint academic events such as seminars, conferences, and moot court competitions. Prof. Surya Prakash expressed his desire for both institutions to grow together.
Detailed Sessions and Open House
The Orientation Programme included an open house session with the parents and guardians, followed by detailed sessions on various topics. Dr. Praveen Tripathi, Associate Professor, led the Academic Process session. The Examination Process session was moderated by the Controller of Examinations, Dr. Gargi Chakrabarti. Dr. Deeplaxmi Chile, Assistant Professor (Warden), conducted the session on Hostel and Campus Rules. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Shailesh N. Hadli, Registrar, and Mr. Gautam Gupta, Assistant Professor of Law.
Commencement of Regular Academic Sessions
After the day-long orientation program, regular academic sessions are set to commence from August 5th. The session showcased the university's commitment to providing quality education and holistic development to its students. The new batch was introduced to the state-of-the-art infrastructure, modern amenities, and student-centric facilities that make DNLU a preferred destination for legal studies.
Admission Process and Academic Programs
DNLU, like all other National Law Universities, admits students to its UG and PG programs based on the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities. DNLU offers a five-year integrated undergraduate program in law and arts, and an LL.M. with specializations in Business Law and Criminal Law. All faculty members and administrative staff of the university attended the program, which was masterfully coordinated by Ms. Ruchira Chaturvedi, Assistant Professor of Law.
