Strategic Collaboration for Academic Excellence
Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU) Jabalpur, known for its strong commitment to academic excellence and holistic development, has recently enhanced its academic standing through a strategic collaboration. Following series of signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with prestigious institutions, DNLU has now partnered with The Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies (ICPS).
About DNLU Jabalpur
Established under the Madhya Pradesh Dharmashastra National Law University Act, 2018, DNLU Jabalpur is dedicated to advancing legal education and upholding the principles of the Indian Constitution. The University offers esteemed programs such as B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D., under the guidance of eminent leaders: Hon’ble Justice J.K. Maheshwari of the Supreme Court of India as Visitor, Hon’ble Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh Shri Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva as Chancellor, and Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Sinha as Vice-Chancellor.
About The Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies (ICPS)
The Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies is a distinguished research institution led by the Hon'ble Speaker of Lok Sabha as its ex-officio President. Through its academic programs, the institute provides participants with a deep understanding of key provisions of the Indian Constitution and parliamentary processes. These initiatives aim to equip individuals to contribute effectively to nation-building and development.
Academic Programs and Training by ICPS
The institute offers Basic Certificate courses at no cost, covering topics such as Legislative Process in Parliament, Evolution of Parliamentary Practices, Local Self-Government, and Indian Foreign Policy. Advanced Certificate Courses focus on Parliamentary Procedures, Constitutional Law, and Constitutional Values, conducted on weekends alongside regular academic commitments. The ICPS regularly organises training programme on legislative drafting for in-service officials working in various ministries in States and Union. This programme aims to enlighten the officials about the functioning of the Parliament and state assemblies. Dr. Seema Kaul Singh currently serves as Director.
Objectives and Goals of the MoU
DNLU takes pride in forging an MoU with ICPS, a prestigious institute. The primary goal of this MoU is to strengthen institutional collaboration and explore potential cooperation in areas such as parliamentary procedures, constitutional law, legislative drafting, and joint research initiatives. It aims to deepen the partnership between DNLU and ICPS through various academic endeavours, including research projects, training courses, seminars, conferences, and knowledge dissemination. Moreover, the MoU seeks to facilitate exchanges of students and faculty between the two institutions.
Formalization of the MoU
The MoU was formalized in the presence of Mr. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Joint Director of ICPS, and Prof. (Dr.) Shailesh N. Hadli, Registrar of DNLU. This partnership represents a significant step forward in advancing legal education and parliamentary studies in India through collaborative efforts and shared expertise.
