Jharkhand Judiciary Exam 2024: Vacancy, Application, Eligibility, Exam Pattern and Syllabus
The High Court of Jharkhand has released Advertisement No. 01/2024/Apptt., inviting applications to recruit District Judges from the Bar.
The High Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi invites online applications to recruit 15 District Judges from eligible advocates. The vacancies will be filled in the revised pay scale of Rs. 1,44,840 - 1,94,660 [Level-J-5] as per Advertisement No. 01/2024/Apptt.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification:
Graduate in Law from a recognized university for enrolment under the Advocates Act, 1961.
2. Age Limit:
- Minimum: 35 years
- Maximum: 45 years (as of 31st January 2023).
- Upper age relaxation of 3 years for SC/ST candidates.
3. Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of continuous practice at the Bar as an Advocate.
Application Fee
- General & Others: ₹1,000/-
- SC/ST: ₹500/-
- Payment must be made online through the payment gateway available on the official website.
Application Process
- Apply through the High Court’s official website: www.jharkhandhighcourt.nic.in.
- Upload: (i) Photograph: Less than 1 MB (200x250 pixels). (ii) Signature: Less than 1 MB (200x125 pixels).
- Save the payment reference number after completing the payment process.
- Complete and submit the application form after payment.
Selection Process
1. Preliminary Entrance Test (Objective): 100 Marks (2 Hours)
Subjects include
- General English
- General Knowledge (including Current Affairs)
- CPC
- CrPC and Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023
- Evidence Act and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023
- Law of Contract
- IPC and Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023
Negative marking: -1 mark for each incorrect answer.
2. Mains Examination (Descriptive)
Paper I: Language and Procedural Law (100 Marks)
Paper II: Substantive Law (100 Marks)
Duration: 3 hours for each paper.
3. Viva-Voce Test: 40 Marks
- Minimum 30% marks required to qualify.
Required Documents
Self-attested copies of:
- Educational qualifications.
- Enrolment certificate under Advocates Act.
- Certificate of experience from the Bar (issued by appropriate authority).
- Certificate of date of birth.
- Medical certificate ensuring sound health.
- Disability certificate (if applicable).
- Testimonials from two references certifying moral character.
Key Conditions
- Admit cards must be downloaded from the website. Hard copies will not be sent.
- Incomplete applications or those not meeting the criteria will be rejected.
- Examination fees are non-refundable.
- The recruitment process will follow the Jharkhand Superior Judicial Service Rules, 2001, as amended.
