Historic Approval: The journey began with the approval of the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on July 29, 2020, signalling the establishment of the university.
Legal Foundation: The 'Uttar Pradesh National Law University Prayagraj Act, 2020' was passed by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature, providing the legal framework for the institution.
Presidential Inauguration: The foundation stone was ceremoniously laid by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, on September 11, 2021, marking a significant milestone in its establishment.
Honouring a Legacy: On December 3, 2021, on the birth anniversary of India's first President, Rajendra Prasad, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that the university would be named in his honour.

State of Art Campus: The university, located on a vast 33.58-acre expanse (initially 28.599 acres), is poised to become a prominent center for legal education.
Inaugural Offering: In its inaugural phase, the institution will offer a five-year BA-LLB course with an initial intake of 60 students.
Faculty Excellence: To support academic excellence, a total of 71 faculty positions have been created, including 11 posts each for professors and associate professors, 34 posts for assistant professors, and 15 other positions.
