Hon’ble Acting Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Anand Pathak Graced the Launch of Two Seminal Works on Treaty Law and Trade Remedies at DNLU, Jabalpur
In a ceremony graced by the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Acting Chief Justice of High Court of Madhya Pradesh, Justice Sheel Nagu and the Guest of Honor, Hon’ble Judge of High Court of Madhya Pradesh, Justice Anand Pathak, Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU) unveiled two significant publications on international trade law on 31st May, 2024 in the DNLU Campus in virtual mode in the presence of all faculty members, students and staff members.
Inaugural address by Chief Justice Nagu
In his lordships inaugural address, Chief Justice Nagu who also serves as distinguished Chancellor of the University praised DNLU's commitment to promoting scholarly endeavours among faculty and students in his inaugural address. He lauded the university's rapid rise to prominence within India's prestigious network of National Law Universities since its establishment in 2018.
Remarks by Justice Anand Pathak
Justice Anand Pathak, the Guest of Honour, provided a thorough overview of the book's contents and emphasized their relevance in the field of International Trade Law. He discussed key issues addressed in the books and underscored the role of universities like DNLU as bridges between academia and policymaking. Justice Pathak demonstrated his profound knowledge and passion for International Law, offering guidance to faculty members and students for their future pursuits.
Drishyam Vidhi
Earlier Justice Anand Pathak was associated with DNLU in expanding the experiential learning technique ‘Drishyam Vidhi’. The idea ‘Drishyam Vidhi’ along with the name was propounded by Justice Pathak. The series of workshops have introduced an audio-visual mode of teaching and learning of criminal law which according to Justice Pathak shall bridge the gap between academics and practice of criminal law.
In such an instructional format, different teams form (such as investigation, prosecution, and judges) and participate as if it were a real-time event. One group conducts the investigation and proposes a chargesheet, while another acts as prosecution and the defense side tries to save the accused. The jury/judges are tasked with writing judgments based on the evidence presented by the parties.

A Handbook on Indian Treaty Law and Practice: A Policy Proposal to the Government of India, which is a comprehensive volume which serves as a research report, offering working papers and a comparative analysis of state practices to inform potential policy proposals for the Government of India. The book has been edited by the Director of the Centre for Studies In International Trade and Investment Laws, Mr. Utkarsh K. Mishra, Assistant Professor of Law, DNLU. The contributors and executive editors to this were Shaan Jain, Romit Jain, Viraj Lahane, Harshit Pathak, Shlok Rai, Manya Jain, Dishita Singh, Aditi Mishra and Vaibhav Singh Tiwari.
Book 2: Recent Issues in Trade Remedies under the WTO Regime
The second book, Recent Issues in Trade Remedies under the WTO Regime, co-published with the Directorate General of Trade Remedies, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, is an edited collection featuring contributions from scholars, practitioners, and legal professionals dealing with contemporary issues surrounding trade remedies within the World Trade Organization (WTO) framework. The book has been edited by Shri Anant Swarup, Directorate General of Trade Remedies, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt of India, Professor Sheela Rai, Dean and Professor of Law, NLUO and Mr. Utkarsh K. Mishra, Director CITIL and Assistant Professor of Law, DNLU. The contributors and executive editors are Shaan Jain, Romit Jain, Poorva Sharma, Viraj Lahane, Suryansh Pandey, and Aditya Jain.
