The competition is scheduled to take place from November 15-16, 2024. This event will provide aspiring law students from across the country with an invaluable opportunity to demonstrate their legal research, argumentation, and oral advocacy skills before a distinguished panel of judges.

About the National Moot Court Competition 2024

The National Moot Court Competition 2024 is set to be a landmark event, offering law students a platform to hone their legal skills in a simulated courtroom environment. Mooting is a vital part of legal education, providing students with hands-on experience in legal research, drafting, and oral submissions, thus bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

This year's moot proposition revolves around complex issues in contract law and dispute resolution. Participants will have the opportunity to argue cases related to liquidated damages, contractual termination, and the legality of settlement agreements, among other legal matters. The competition is designed to challenge the intellect of participants and foster critical thinking, teamwork, and presentation skills.

Registration and Important Dates

  • Registration Opens: September 18, 2024
  • Registration Deadline: September 28, 2024
  • Memorial Submission Deadline: October 18, 2024
  • Oral Rounds Begin: November 15, 2024

The registration process is straightforward, and teams can submit their applications online. The competition is open to students enrolled in 3-year or 5-year undergraduate LL.B. programs across India. Each institution is allowed to send only one team consisting of two speakers and one researcher.

How to Participate

Participants are required to submit a 200-250 word abstract along with their memorials. The competition will be divided into two stages:

  1. Memorial Elimination Round: Teams must submit memorials for both sides (Petitioner and Respondent). The top 24 teams will qualify for the oral rounds based on their memorial scores.
  2. Oral Rounds: After the preliminary rounds, selected teams will compete in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final rounds, all of which will be conducted offline at DBRANLU, Sonepat.

Competition Structure

The competition will consist of preliminary rounds, followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final round. Each team will be given 25-35 minutes to present their case, including time for rebuttals and sur-rebuttals. The participants will be judged on legal research, presentation skills, logical reasoning, and argumentation.
